June 5, 2016  is National Cancer Survivors Day!

June 19 is Father’s Day, a time not only to celebrate fathers, but also those men who serve as positive role models for children, love them, invest in them and actively participate in the lives of children.

Activities

  • Now until June 12, attend the Universoul Circus at the Security Square Mall located at 6901 Security Boulevard. Discount offers are available at www.universoulcircus.com/
  • Each Friday evening from 6-9 p.m., take advantage of free music concerts at Belvedere Square. For more information, go to www.belvederesquare.com
  • Each month, take advantage of guided walking tours of Baltimore where you will visit the most historic neighborhood and engage in conversations about Baltimore’s rich history.  For more information, go to http://explorebaltimore.org/
  • Each Wednesday through September from 3:30-7:30 p.m., visit the Druid Hill Farmers Market.  Admission is FREE. There will be music story time for children ages 2-6 and horse rides available for a fee.  Don’t forget to support the vendors. For more information, go to http://www.druidhillpark.org/
  • Each Wednesday through September, take advantage of the Govanstowne Farmers Market at Loyola University located at 4501 North Charles Street.  Admission is FREE.  For more information, go to http://govansmarket.weebly.com/
  • June 11 from 2-3:30 p.m., Dance & Amp presents Their Senior Company.  Senior citizens present a multigenerational fusion of live music, vocals, spoken work and dance.  The seniors add a wealth of storytelling, history, and wisdom accompanied by soul music with a hint of jazz and rhythm and blues.  For more information, call (410) 871-8322.
  • June 11-12 is the Honfest, a celebration of the warmth and affection of historic working women of Baltimore.  Enjoy live music, classic Baltimore cuisine and eclectic vendors. Admission is FREE.  For more information, go to honfest.net.
  • June 11- September 5, enjoy 40 Summers of Science at the Maryland Science Center.  This is the 40th birthday celebration and admission prices roll back to the 1976 admission fee.  For more information, call (410) 685-5225 or (410) 685-2370.
  • June 12- August 21, attend free concerts at Patterson Park, located at 27 South Patterson Park Avenue. For more information, go to pattersonpark.com/fun-in-the-park.
  • June 13 from 6-8 p.m., Tabba Tabba’s Children’s Outdoor Movie Night takes place. This event is located at 5308 Edmondson Avenue.  Grab a blanket and bring a friend.  Each child will receive juice, popcorn, candy, and a swag bag.  Although admission is FREE, you must register at eventbrite.
  • June 14, attend Writers & Words, A Baltimore Reading Series, featuring one fiction writer, one essayist, one poet and one “wild card.”  The venue is Charmingtons located at 2601 North Howard Street and admission is FREE.  For more information, go to https://writersandwords.net
  • June 19 at 6 p.m., enjoy Family Movie Night at M&T Stadium.  Grab a blanket and bring your family for a special night on the field.  The featured movie is Minions and the location is 1101 Russell Street.  Movie begins at 7 p.m. and parking is free for all guests at certain lots.  For more specifics, go to baltimoreravens.com/movienight. Children ages 2 and under are FREE. For all others, tickets are $10 in advance and cost includes:
  • Self-guided locker room tours
  • Question and answer session with some of the Ravens
  • Special appearance with Poe
  • Performances by the cheerleaders and pep band
  • Inflatable bounce houses
  • Face painting and much more
  • June 20 from 6-9p.m., enjoy Monday Night Gospel Skate at the Shake and Bake Family Fun Center, located at 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue.  Admission is FREE and skate rental costs $3.00.  For more information, call (410) 669-6100.
