“I’ll Take the Crumbs”

SUBJECT: “I’LL TAKE THE CRUMBS”

SPEAKER: Pastor Tanya M. Adams

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 15:27 – “And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”

When I first read this story many years ago, I was offended because it appears that Jesus is very harsh with this woman pleading for help. It did not make sense to me because..DOESN’T JESUS LOVE EVERYBODY? WHY DID HE TALK TO HER THAT WAY?

I read one writer who said …”isn’t it amazing that we (the reader) are offended by Jesus’ response, but not the woman?” It took me some years of growing up, and some profound teachings from men/women of God to get a better understanding of this message.

But as she looks at Jesus, she had to see beyond his response and connect to His heart. She knew that if she looked into his eyes, LOVE couldn’t refuse her request. She is CORRECT!

Desperate people will use desperate measures. You have to reach a point in your life that you become as the deer that pants after the water brooks and thirst for God. Psalms 42:1 (KJV)

The greatest lesson I learned about crumbs is that they have the same ingredients as the whole portion. So everything that went into the bread is in the crumb. It is just a smaller portion of the product. I still get to enjoy the taste ….THE GLORY!
