The Words Of My Mouth

Psalms 19:14 (KJV) – “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in the sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”

Oftentimes, we speak out of anger or frustration without even thinking that we may be hurting the ones we truly love. We find ourselves asking those that we hurt for forgiveness.  Unfortunately, we fail to ask God to guard our mouth and lips! Our words come from our hearts. Words do hurt!  Many times it’s not the person that we’re mad at but the situation or the disturbing thoughts (within our minds) that cause us to release negativity towards that person. Hurt people will hurt people!

Nobody’s perfect because if we were there would be no need for the Word of God or the church. The church and the Word helps imperfect people seek Godly wisdom and love. We have to ask God to teach us how to speak to others and to adjust our words.  The purpose is to speak what is just and right in His sight. In addition, we need eyes that are more alert in those situations where he has something to teach us. Let us remove negativity from our hearts and allow His love to overflow within us.  A positive attitude will allow us to speak good/positive words to those we are speaking to…this is the results of having a Godly “Minor Heart Surgery” procedure.

We listen to understand and not listen to be heard.

Through the years I have learned how much words can hurt even when the person doesn’t mean you any harm. I have been hurt by words and I have hurt others with my words. The Lord has taught me to be slow to speak and quick to forgive.
